Description
This is a dragon drawing I did while watching Polar Express around Christmas. Nothing like a heart warming seasonal movie to make you wanna draw a nasty, evil monsterThis was intended for use as a mostly digital coloring project, so, yes, the background isn't there for a reason and I didn't do a whole lot of intensive shading.
This is really just the start of something bigger, and (I hope) better.
As usual, this is 14x17" Bristol, Vellum finish, with HB .007mm mechanical pencil.
Time spent was around 2.5-3 hours.

I do agree that the tail end is cropped in an odd way...probably should have worked on that more, but this drawing just had a life of its own. It flowed out on its own accord.

The positioning of the head and far front leg is a little cramped...the head needs to be either very definately over and therefore in front of the leg or the gap between the two should be bigger to avoid confusion. I'm also not to sure on the far wings anatomy either...where it bends forward at the top joint seems a little fudged.
I look forward to seeing the coloured version.

That was one of those times where I saw it, and told myself there was a reason for it, so it was OK. In fact, it's just an anatomy error (one joint too many), which I think I can correct in the painted version.
Thanks for the feedback.

thumbs up
loved the way you used not the defaultly given dragon designs and combined a vulturish look in to it...
the lines are very clean and strong
the far wing u say is bad but i dont see it that bad.. may be the angle can be retracted a lil forwards, it looks the tip of the wing is facing us more than the left one, if you lower it a bit downward the tip it will be alright, thats IMO
but the joint number is ok just as much as the left wing...
+9

If you hadn't pushed me a bit, I wouldn't have posted this drawing. Now it's my first artwork to make it to the Top 10. Feels good! Of course, you've got two on there right now...
@Kaduflyer: I've got aboutt 10 pounds of Roma Plastilina left over from my old days back in school. That's a good idea about making a mock-up...but I'm afraid I'd put more work into that than I would the drawing!
I'm anxious to get the color painting done. It's a long process--I'm learning as I go. Hope to post it soon.
