Description

In Ancient times, before the great Sin War split Heaven and Earth; when angels and demons freely walked the land with mankind, there was a King like no other, a King immortal.

Unknown to any but his closest advisors, the King's great gift, that of eternal life, was granted by his Sorceress Queen--a powerful enchantress with no equal. As is expected when humans play the role of gods, there was a flaw in the Queen's plan. In giving the gift of eternal life to her beloved, she damned herself to a life of eternal death. In addition, the King, while immune to the cold kiss of death, was not impervious to injury or the ravages of time.

As her King lived and prospered without fear of death, the Queen's body wasted away to a shadow of her former beauty. For every breath her husband took, her body shriveled that much more. In the end, grief stricken by his beloved's tortuous existence, the King ended his Queen's agony and thusly ended himself.

This is a revisiting of an older work I did back in '04. If you'd like to check out the couple in happier times, lookee here: The Immortal King and Queen by  addicted2macs

its not bad but i think you need to variate your lead density to properly balance the volume on this baby. love the amount of of attention youve put on it though and great concept.

ah, fresh meat for the wolves!

nothing for me to crit really. The style and compo are well executed...lots of nice details...interesting characters. This would look perfect in an instruction manual for some RPG...great drawing brian

I rank the thumbs as a "stick it up your ass", so the smiles are better, Dean. Just kidding of course....

After careful consideration, I realize that while you didn't tell me about all the stuff that was wrong, you did point out very constructive items. So....

Great drawing.
I think it will look better if you will darken the background a bit to create more contrast with the rest of the image.

only crit i can give is t colour it so you'll lose some of the flatness:)
its a very good sketch, a heck of a lot potential:)

I guess I should clarify that this is intended for a paintover at some point--whenever I can squeeze in some computer time at home. I want to try combining painting and drawing a little more and see what I can produce. So, I should be coloring this guy eventually. :)

Thanks all for the feedback. Except Dean. He's weird.

Cool, man!
My suggestion: Keep the style as it is and just leave those shadow outlines next time. Just the outlines that are needed to hold everything together.
And I'd love to see more background.
The armor looks wicked!
Would wear it. Fits to my new Warhammer. 8)

Great line work, the building in the backround is slightly wonky with a fewperspective errors but the linework on the characters is really strong. Nice work, I'd love to see a coloured version.

@Juro: Yeah...I realized I had flubbed a few of my lines on the castle. I hate to admit that, since it means I knowingly posted sub-par work, but I figure I'll do a lot of cleanup when I paint it over. :p

@seeThrou: You can play it now! Diablo II has been out forever. I loosely based this drawing on a few pieces of equipment, created my own back-story, armor design, character design, etc.

I love your framing. Though I'd like to see more things pop out of the frame. Diablo II is awesome... I hear Diable III is a-comin' our way in a few years.
Great job, can't wait to see the painted version.

@klyph: At some point, I'm going to work up the nerve to post some of my college work. I really love the aspect of framing and boxing things up, then having things bust out of those tight, precise restraints. It's something I've never been able to drop. Glad you noticed and enjoyed.

I am certainly anticipating DIII I'm a freak for it.

And I just started the painting.... ;)

loved the shading in it! it adds some nice 2d style...reminds me the artworks in the vidoe game Fable(the pictures in the walls in some part of the game)..the castle at the back looks like a window painting!(forgot its english name)
